A selection of paper types and presentation formats will be available at 5APCEI.

Delegates may choose to submit a full paper in either a non-refereed or refereed category. They then can choose to present their paper in the standard style of conference presentations (25 mins including allowance for question time) or in a discussion-centred session.

Alternatively, delegates can choose to submit an abstract only for participation in a showcase session where each presenter has 10 mins to showcase and share a particular resource, intervention, project or achievement they have been involved in. Participants may, if they wish, provide a poster to supplement their showcase and allow for continued discussion with colleagues throughout the conference.

Papers in the refereed category will be sent to external referees.  Refereed papers can qualify as  DEEWR E1 publications  and will be published in a conference proceedings. Selected papers may be invited to be published in the International Journal of Educational Integrity

Paper and presentation formats:

Both refereed and non-refereed papers should be formatted according to the instructions listed here. If you choose to present your paper in a discussion-centred session you will also need to supply a separate one-pager which includes

• a 100-200 word abstract
• the key ideas listed as dot points
• two discussion questions

Abstract only showcase submissions should be formatted according to the following specifications:

• Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and should include the name(s) of author(s), institution(s) and email address(es). Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Program, and presentation times will be scheduled in the program.

If you intend to include an optional poster with your showcase presentation for display throughout the conference please check specifications below.

Discussion-centred session

This style of conference presentation was used successfully and appreciated by delegates at 4APCEI in Wollongong in 2009. By popular demand it is being offered again at 5APCEI. Here’s how it works:

• Authors supply a one-pager which includes an abstract, the key ideas listed as dot points and two discussion questions. Their full paper is placed online before the conference begins.
• Participants will have the one-pager for guidance. Participants are encouraged where possible to have read the full paper in advance.
• Each session will be opened by a discussant (not the author) who will speak for up to 5 minutes and add one new discussion question to those posed by the author in the one-pager
• The author will reply and comment for up to 5 minutes
• The discussion then continues around the discussion questions — with a stimulating time for all!

Poster (to complement showcase presentations)

If you decide to make a poster to complement your showcase presentation you should choose a size of 90 x 60 cm (A1 size). Either landscape or portrait orientation is acceptable. Delegates should bring a hardcopy of their poster with them to the conference. Posters can be conveniently produced using a Microsoft Powerpoint©. Please specify in the body of your email whether you are:

• submitting a paper or an abstract only (please note that if you submit an abstract only it will only be considered for the showcase session)

If submitting a paper, specify whether it is to be:

•  refereed or non-refereed 

and

• a standard conference presentation, or a discussion-centred presentation (must be accompanied by a one-pager)
